I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek
Romans 1:16
A quick summary of The Gospel:
When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden by disobeying God they began to die physically but immediately died spiritually. (Genesis 2:15-3:24) Ever since then EVERY single human being who has ever lived has been born spiritually DEAD and sinful. Contrary to what some people believe, it is IMPOSSIBLE to be good enough to ever make yourself righteous or spiritually alive, and because God is perfectly just He cannot ignore our sin. Therefore, every single human being that has ever lived is hopelessly lost and deserving of eternal punishment (The Bible refers to the place of this eternal death as the Lake of Fire)
But, because of God’s infinite LOVE He provided a remedy- a way out- for all people. His SOLUTION was to send His only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Jesus came to take upon Himself the guilt, shame and punishment each one of us deserves. That is why Jesus was crucified on a cruel Roman cross and why, as He was dying, He cried out “It is finished!”. He meant that the sacrifice had been made and the price had been paid for all those who REPENT (turn away) from their sin and believe on His Name. – for all those who receive His payment for their sins and His offer of forgiveness.
On the third day Jesus arose from the grave, victorious over sin and death. After appearing to the disciples and many others, He went back to heaven to the Father. He then sent His Holy Spirit to come and live with those who believe in Him so that they could become spiritually alive and have power over sin for the rest of their lives. One day He is coming again to take all His children- those who have believed in His Name and been made spiritually alive through His Spirit – back with Him forever.
The Gospel in God’s Word:
-As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one Romans 3:10
-for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23
-but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us Romans 5:8
-For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 6:23
–These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Matthew 25:46 (See Revelation 20:13-15)
-if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9
-For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13
-And now I want to remind you, my friends, of the Good News – the Gospel – which I preached to you, which you received, and on which your faith stands firm. You are saved by the gospel if you hold firmly to it… that Christ died for our sins, as written in the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised to life three days later, as written in the Scriptures, that He appeared to Peter and then to all twelve apostles. Then He appeared to more than five hundred of His followers at once. 1 Corinthians 15:1-6
-All the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins. Acts 10:43
-Repent and believe in the gospel! Mark 1:15
-Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. (Acts 16:30)
-I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in Me (Jesus) will live, even if he dies, and everyone who believes in Me will never die. (John 11:25-26)
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a hell-deserving sinner and that there is nothing I can do to save myself or earn my salvation. I believe that you are the Son of God, the Savior Who died in my place, that you were buried and resurrected three days later. I know You shed your blood on the cross to pay for my sins. I now believe upon You as my personal Savior; I accept your payment for my sins and receive your offer of forgiveness. I repent and ask you to please forgive me of all my sins and rule and reign in my life from this day forward. Please save me and take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for dying for me and saving me from eternal death and giving me eternal life. Amen.
